Resin beds aren't designed to handle those rapid, short cycles — it accelerates resin breakdown and causes channeling, where water finds the path of least resistance through worn grooves in the bed rather than being properly treated. You'll burn through a resin bed in 3–4 years instead of 10–12.

2. Sediment Filter Before the Softener

Marion County's sandy soils and limestone geology mean even a good well can kick up fine particulates, especially after heavy rain or when a pump is aging. A 20–50 micron sediment filter upstream of your softener keeps sand and fine clay out of the resin.
